Flute and Piano tuition

Lauren is a Flute and Piano teacher with over 20 years or performance and teaching experience.

Born and raised in Gisborne, Lauren graduated from the University of Waikato with a Master of Music with First Class Honours and a Post Graduate Diploma under the tutelage of Luca Manghi. During her time at University, she was awarded the Sir Edmund Hilary Scholarship and had the opportunity to study in France at the Tignes International Summer School with Professor Vincent Lucas. She has also participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Emily Beynon, Joshua Batty, and Michel Bellavance.
Throughout her studies, Lauren achieved 2nd Place in the University Concerto Competition three times and competed in the ROSL Arts International Chamber Music Competition. She has enjoyed notable successes in competitions, winning the tertiary section and the Best Performance of a New Zealand Work at the New Zealand Woodwind Competition. Additionally, she has been a semi-finalist and finalist in the Australian Flute Festival Competition on two occasions, making her the only competitor from New Zealand to reach both rounds.


Lauren is a currently freelance artist who performs with different orchestras throughout New Zealand. She has a strong passion for teaching students of all ages, from as young as 3 to those enjoying their retirement. Lauren enjoys creating customized lessons for each student addressing their individual learning styles, and incorporates technology to enhance the learning experience, making it more engaging and enjoyable.
